Ajilon Perth Scouts For Talent at Curtin University Careers Expo

Last week recruitment and workforce planning staff from Ajilon’s Perth office participated in the inaugural Curtin Business School (CBS) Postgraduate Careers Expo, held on Thursday 31st May at the Duxton Hotel.

Seventeen employers and industry representatives, including Rio Tinto, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young, participated to speak with more than 300 Postgraduate students about advanced career opportunities and to share their own industry experiences.

The Expo was a new initiative by Curtin to fill a growing demand from Postgraduate students and alumni to meet with industry representatives looking for experienced players.

Ajilon’s Susanna De Bari, Emma Wood, Judith van der Linden and Kim Forth spoke with students who were looking to start their post grad careers, thinking of changing careers, looking for a different employer and who wanted to see what was available in the current job market for experienced workers.

Curtin is one of Perth’s top universities, renowned for providing Business graduates to the WA and Australian markets and Susanna, head of Workforce Planning at Ajilon WA, said this is what attracted her to the Expo.

“The labour market in WA is incredibly hot right now and our main objective on Thursday was to attract new candidates to our Perth office primarily, but also our Sydney and Melbourne offices too.

“We took more than 65 registrations of interest from people keen to work with us, so I was really pleased with the overall response we received at our booth.

“Historically, we’ve predominantly found candidates through staff referrals, recruitment agencies and to a lesser degree, online advertising.

“If we can participate in Curtin and other local university Expos on an annual basis, it potentially gives us an additional new channel through which we can attract candidates to our Perth and eastern states’ offices.”
