Ajilon's brand on show at itSMFA seminar
Tuesday, 17 November 2009 00:00

As primary sponsor, Ajilon’s brand and IT Service Management capabilites were on show to the 50 guests in attendance at yesterday's Information Technology Service Management Forum Australia (itSMFA) user group seminar, held late afternoon at the Art Gallery of WA.

Mark Smith, Ajilon’s IT Service Management Service Line Director and the lead in facilitating Ajilon’s sponsorship of this event, said itSMFA provides a forum for IT professionals and practitioners at all levels to network and learn from one another.

“It was a great turn out on the day. Approximately 50 people registered to attend this event from a whole raft of different organisations, including Edith Cowan University, INPEX, Worley Parsons, Kinetic IT, Suntree Group, Fujitsu, CSC, HBF and the Departments of Environment and Conservation, Education and Training, Premier and Cabinet, Parliamentary Services, DotAG and the WA Police.”

Joining Mark at the event were fellow Ajiloners, Jane Roberts, Steve Toomey, Jason Frehner and Anthony Doig.
Steve Toomey was invited to give a short sponsor word of thanks to open proceedings, using the opportunity to give a brief overview of Ajilon why it is a “genuine player” in the IT Service Management arena.

Mark Toomey, Director of Infonomics Pty Ltd, followed Steve, delivering the key note address on the event theme, IT Governance in Action.

According to Mark Smith, Mark elaborated on the top level governance tasks of evaluating, directing and monitoring.

“Mark went into some depth explaining the six principles for good governance, specifically referring to the ongoing, day-to-day use of IT. I know he writes and speaks extensively about how business leaders can govern IT. His publications include The Director’s IT Compass and Waltzing with the Elephant, which is a comprehensive guide to the corporate governance of Information Technology. I think the audience drew a lot of value from his insights.”

Building further credibility around Ajilon’s expertise in the IT Service Management space, Mark added that Jane Roberts was recently appointed as the itSMFA Western Australia Chairperson, a position she will hold until its next elections are held mid-2010.

“Jane’s appointment by the Board is recognition of her personal expertise in the service management space, her standing in the wider IT community and her willingness to put time and effort into an organisation that promotes and supports best-practice in IT Service Management. Jane’s selection also reflects well on our Ajilon brand and will enhance our reputation as a firm with outstanding contacts and practitioners in the ITIL consulting and IT services delivery spaces.”
