As a major telecommunications utility provider, our client was using specialised software to manage its core service management functions, such as logging incidents, problem and release management and general services. The key aim was to enable a centralised source of reliable IT component information. The organisation also wanted to enhance internal efficiencies by identifying who needed access to what data.
The challenge
We had the challenge of ensuring the system maintained accurate information and could be accessed by various divisions so they could make more efficient and better informed decisions. In addition, we needed to tackle the issues of routine scanning of the system to help our client minimise business risk, whilst balancing the operational needs of the organisation.
The Ajilon approach

We needed to understand the configuration, data components and how each component was used for everyday business decisions. Our approach required detailed vendor management and we worked closely with various teams to plan, build and test the platform. We also ensured that during this process, we reassured application and support managers that any new measures we recommended would not adversely affect server and network performance.
How did Ajilon deliver a robust technology platform?
We helped enable routine scanning of target servers managed by third parties. In addition, we helped change the Standard Operating Environment used to build new servers, so that any newly commissioned servers were covered by routine ‘discovery’ scans.
We worked with security architects to ensure that any changes or enhancements implemented complied with the standards set by the organisation and minimised security risks.
