Client profile
A government organisation providing law and order services, our client used a web based application to search and retrieve information nationally about individuals. The users were the frontline staff of the organisation and processed up to 4000 searches per hour. Our client’s major business need was to enhance the speed and functionality of the system.
The challenge
The Ajilon team needed to fully understand what was involved in the automated search software; determine the number of users and inquiries, as well as the elements that contributed to its speed, accuracy and efficiency. We also needed to build a platform for accurately measuring response times.
The Ajilon approach:
We focused on being able to accurately assess current use and therefore determine the enhancement needed in the system. We recommended the following analysis:
- What do things look like now? Detail in an end to end model the existing system architecture and analyse the current performance of the system
- What do we want it to look like? Plan the final architecture with projected improvements, such as user functionality and response times, to clarify the improvements and efficiencies required
How did Ajilon deliver an enhanced system?
After careful planning, design, development and testing over a period of 6 months, we implemented enhancements to the client’s system, which resulted in an increased capacity for the number of searches conducted per hour and drastically improved the response times.
Key expertise provided by Ajilon:
- Solutions architecture
- Software development
