Immediate Disqualification by Notice (IDN) | WA Police (.PDF 438Kb)
In November 2010, a Road Traffic Legislation Amendment was passed in parliament empowering Western Australian Police (WAPOL) to immediately serve a Disqualification Notice (DN) to drivers who commit a drink driving offence (where there is physical evidence indicating that the driver's blood alcohol content (BAC) is above the legal limit). With the aim of providing a greater deterrent to drink driving and, ultimately, reducing road casualties, the Immediate Disqualification Notice (IDN) system would take effect on 1 August 2012. This aggressive 10 month timeline required a rapid response to update WAPOL's reporting and issuing systems and processes.
