Ajilon's client, a large government department, engaged Ajilon to undertake a review of its key business system. The target system was a major component of the government's infrastructure, managing 1.5 million licensed drivers and 2.4 million registered vehicles in Western Australia, collecting $1.3 billion per annum. It is a bespoke Java application, specifically designed to meet the needs of the department.
At the time of Ajilon's initial engagement, this system had been under development since 1999 and the department were experiencing problems deploying it into a production state. The problems included performance, stability, functional deficiencies and change control.
Ajilon undertook a comprehensive review of the application and made a number of recommendations to enable it to be deployed into a production environment and provide a platform for future stability and maintainability. The recommendations included improvements to:
- The underlying application architecture, including security
- Business logic
- Batch processing
- Development and testing standards & practices
- Defect correction and release
- Application documentation
The client accepted Ajilon's recommendations and engaged Ajilon to implement them. Ajilon partnered with the department and its incumbent service provider to implement the recommendations enabling the application to be fully deployed and also providing a stable environment for the application to be maintained successfully.
Since the initial engagement in 2004 Ajilon have continued to partner with the client to support and enhance the functionality of the system, providing a range of services in project management, application architecture, business analysis, development, testing, configuration management, applications database administration and support. |
